I am Lawrence L. Worrilow III the tenth great grandchild of Christopher Worrilow who was born 1574 in Haughton, Staffordshire, England. Thomas Worrilow, the first grandchild of Christopher, was the first Worrilow to immigrate to the New World. Thomas came to America a short time before 1686 and his family settled in Edgmont Township, Delaware County Pennsylvania where he was constable from 1692 to 1693. His son John was constable in 1694. Many Worrilow's still live in the area, in fact William F. Worrilow, another descendant of Thomas, was constable of the same Township 300 years after Thomas. Thomas and Joan (or Grace) Perkes Worrilow made the long trek to America with five of their seven children. One of Thomas' sons, John Worrilow, had eight children with Anne Maris, daughter of George Maris, and all of the Worrilow descendants in America can be traced to them.
Many members' of the Worrilow family have studied the genealogy of the family. One such Worrilow developed what we call the "Family Wheel." Much of what we know today about the family can be attributed to the wheel. Although, it is not dated, it appears to have been completed sometime around the turn of the 19th century. For those interested in the Worrilow family, a copy of the wheel can be found on this site. The wheel starts in the middle with John and Anne Worrilow (1690) (Marriage Certificate), and continues out eight generations. Much of the other genealogical data found on the page has been compiled from other sources.
I am still in search of early Worrilow pictures and would gladly pay anyone for these pictures. Please let me know if you have any old pictures of the family. I will return all pictures once they are copied and repay your shipping expense. You can contact me at lworrilow (at) gmail (dot) com.
